JC Green

JC Green, 74, of Manila, passed from this life Feb. 7, 2020, at the Monette Manor Nursing Center. Born in Manila, he was the son of the late Oliver and Mozella Brown Green and was a lifelong area resident. A graduate of Manila High School, he was a U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam War and was a recipient of the Bronze Star and Purple Heart. JC was a retired truck driver and former employee of Hedger Brothers Concrete Company in Jonesboro. JC enjoyed watching sports, especially football and St. Louis Cardinals Baseball. 

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, Steven Green; his daughter, Shelly Green; one great-grandson, Easton Stone; three brothers, RD Rece, Ted Rece and Dewey Rece.

Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Wanda Hitchcock Green of the home; two sons, Terry Green of Monette and Patrick Spencer (Angie) of Houston, Texas; two brothers, Eldon Lee Green of Jacksonville, Fla., and James Lester of Swainsboro, Ga.; his sister, Jeanette Smith of Hardy. He also leaves eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Funeral services, with Military Honors, will be 2 p.m. Monday, Feb. 10, at the Howard Funeral Service Chapel in Manila with Rev. Jacob Britt officiating. Burial will follow in the Manila Cemetery. The family will receive visitors Monday afternoon from 12:30 until service time.
