Earl F. Tubbs

Earl F. Tubbs, 90, of Blytheville passed away Saturday, Dec. 28, 2019, in his home. He was the husband of Martha Pierce Tubbs. They shared 69 years of marriage together.

Born Nov. 6, 1929, in Oklahoma, he was the son of Ollie and Grace Hill Tubbs. Earl held many positions over his lifetime. He served in the Korean War and was awarded a Purple Heart for injuries sustained while assisting other soldiers to safety. Additionally, he was a self-taught cook, owner of a cafe, and he started his own business in the late '80s, Earl's Seamless Gutters and Fencing. His family states, "He was a jack of all trades and could do it all."

Earl was a member of Calvary Baptist for many years and was still serving as a deacon. He also belonged to the Masonic Lodge one month shy of 50 years. He enjoyed playing cards, baking, working in his yard, visiting with friends, and spending time with his family.

He was preceded in death by his parents; three sisters, Marie Sherrell, Wanda Ottinger, and Jewel Collier; and two brothers, Bob Tubbs and O.J. Tubbs.

He is survived by his wife, Martha Pierce Tubbs, of Blytheville; three daughters, Carol (and Roger) Roemen of Blytheville, Joan (and Jessie) Slaughter of Armorel, and Nancy Jiles of Blytheville; five grandchildren, Joe Roemen, Robert Roemen, Angela Hoffman, Jeremy Slaughter, and Justin Slaughter; 13 great-grandchildren; one sister, Margaret Ann Scurlock; and many friends that will miss him dearly.

Funeral services were Wednesday, 10:30 a.m., at Calvary Baptist Church with Dr. Alvin McGill officiating. Visitation was Tuesday, 5-7 p.m., at Carney Funeral Home Chapel. Burial was in Carney Cemetery.
