Juanita Mayo

Friday, November 22, 2019

Angels came to escort Ina Juanita Mayo, my mother, our friend, our hero, our Memaw to Paradise on Monday Nov. 11, 2019. She is rejoicing with her late husband, James B. Mayo, and their daughter Carolyn Mayo Snow.

Juanita was born in Lepanto to Ralph and Marie Bailey. Juanita loved school and graduated early from Blytheville High School at age 17. She attended nursing school in Memphis, Tenn., for two years until meeting the love of her life and marrying in 1947. Once settled in Blytheville, Juanita worked diligently for American Greeting in Osceola. She was proud of her accomplishments there having been the first woman to be promoted to a man’s position opening doors for other women to be promoted as well. Juanita was a dedicated Christian for 81 of her 91 years. She loved her Lord, her husband, and her two daughters with a kind and loving heart.

Left to celebrate her memory; daughter Barbara Henderson Crain, two granddaughters, two grandsons and eight great-grandchildren.

Many thanks go to AR Hospice and her caregivers, Janet and Mikelya.

Funeral services were held Friday, Nov. 15, at 2 p.m. in the Cobb Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Jeff Childers officiating. Burial was private and there was no visitaiton. The family requests memorials be made to Sylvan Hills Church of Christ, Dorcus House, 117 W. Maryland, Sherwood, Ark. 72120.
