Charles Monroe Roe

Charles Monroe Roe, 84, of Paragould, passed from this life Saturday, Nov. 9, 2019, at his home. Born in Black Oak, he was the son of the late Thomas and Maude McKimish Roe and had been a Paragould resident since 1972. Charles had attended Central High School in Caraway and was a U.S. Army veteran, having served his country in Germany. He retired from Kroger in 1996 after 31 years of service; he enjoyed spending time in Hardy with his family, being outdoors and raising chickens and other kinds of birds. He was a member of the Adam Jackson American Legion Post #17 and Southside Community Church, both in Paragould. 

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Adis Roe and Finis Roe; and five sisters, Vernie Houchins, Maggie Sammons, Neva Hawthorne, Ruby Goings and Ella Mae Fowler.

Survivors include his wife of 64 years, Nita Roe of the home; his son, Tony Roe (Gayla); two daughters, Kim Hobbs (Ronald) and Jennifer Allbritton (Keith) all of Paragould; two sisters, Betty Henry of Lake City and Etha Spurlock of Katy, Texas. He also leaves 11 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren, all of whom he dearly loved.

Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 13, at Southside Community Church in Paragould with Pastor Charles Stoddard officiating. Burial will follow in New Friendship Cemetery under the direction of Howard Funeral Service of Leachville. The family will receive visitors Tuesday from 6-8 p.m. at the church.
