Odell Shields, Sr. of Blytheville was born June 21, 1937, in Hughes to the late Charlie Shields and the late Lizzie Mae Rhodes Shields. He was the owner of a lawn service business and was a deacon of Pleasent Ridge M.B. Church. Mr. Shields passed away Oct. 25, 2019, at his home in Blytheville at the age of 82. He was preceded in death by his father Charlie Shields, his mother Lizzie Mae Rhodes Shields, one son Odell Shields, Jr., one brother L.P. Shields, Sr. and three sisters Rodena Shields, Charlie Mae Reed and Australia Harris.

He is survived by his wife Hattie Shields of Blytheville; one son Rickey (Natasha) Shields of Memphis, Tenn.; three daughters, Atlanta Gulledge of Denver, Colo., Gloria Shields Rogers of Marion and Judy (Ernest) McGinister of West Memphis; one daughter in love, Zawanica LaReese Williams of Atlanta, Ga.; one brother, Willie Shields of Chicago, Ill.; one sister, Elma Gunby of Chicago, Ill; 11 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

The visitation will be held from 12-2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 2, at Prince of Peace in Blytheville, with the funeral following immediately at 2 p.m., Rev. Gilbert Davis officiating. The burial will be held at Memory Gardens cemetery in Blytheville. Services are provided by Wilson Funeral Home Blytheville.
