Gale Hanna, Sr., 91, of Luxora, passed away Tuesday, Sept. 24, 2019, at Flo and Phil Jones Hospice House in Jonesboro.

Born to Wilburn Lee and Ethel May Brown Hanna in Lepanto, Gale worked as a farmer in his younger years and he retired from American Greetings where he worked in maintenance. He was a lifetime member of the Church of Christ in Luxora where he served as a former deacon and the church treasurer. Gale worked hard for his church that he loved so much. He was a resident of Luxora for most of his life and was a former member of Luxora Lion’s Club. Gale loved to garden and could raise any type of vegetable. He often grew unusual varieties of vegetables just to see if he could get them to grow. Gale loved his family and enjoyed spending time with his great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and brother, Cleo Hanna.

Gale leaves his wife of 71 years, Dorothy Barch Hanna of the home; four children, Gale Hanna, Jr. and his wife Dana of Searcy, Cherrie Scott and her husband Davie of Osceola, Karen Faries and her husband Ronnie of Tiptonville, Tenn., and Cathy Jo Gist and her husband Darrell of Luxora; two sisters, Helen Thomas and Elizabeth Smith, both of Palatka, Fla.; nine grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, Sept. 27, in the Cobb Funeral Home Chapel in Blytheville with Mr. Barry Bell officiating. Burial will follow in Dogwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1 p.m. until service time at Cobb Funeral Home.
