Vernon Austin “Dewey” Stillwell

Vernon Austin “Dewey” Stillwell, 80, of Manila, died Wednesday, Sept. 4, 2019, at the Flo and Phil Jones Hospice House in Jonesboro. Born in Mounds, Ill., he was the son of the late Linnie James and Susie Bailey Stillwell and had been a Manila resident for the past 38 years. He was the owner and operator of Stillwell Septic Tank Service and was a member of the Church of God in Manila. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two sisters and a brother.

Survivors include his wife of 11 years, Patty Brown Stillwell of the home; one son, Timothy Stillwell (Lisa) of Huntsville, Ala.; six daughters, Deborah Viele (Val) of Cherokee Village, Pamela Binder (Butch) of Vassar, Mich., Kim Wallace of Stuarts Draft, Vir., Michelle Swales (Harold) of Evart, Mich., Jamie Lynn Williams (Brian Crawford) of Lafe, Angela Stillwell of Jonesboro; two brothers, Frankie Stillwell of Paragould and Tommy Hodge of Walnut Ridge. He also leaves 22 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral service will be 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 7, at the Howard Funeral Service Chapel in Manila. The family will receive visitors Friday evening from 6-8 at the funeral home.
