Max B. Tarpley

Max B. Tarpley, 83, of Blytheville, passed away Wednesday, Aug. 28, 2019 in Jonesboro.

Born in Lepanto to Clarence and Macie Andrews Tarpley, Max was retired from Dyersburg State Community College and previously taught for several years at Mississippi County Community College (now Arkansas Northeastern College) in Blytheville. He was a member of First Baptist Church. Max served in the United States Air Force, giving 20 years of honorable service to his country before retiring. Max served on the board for the Mississippi County Union Mission and was involved in the prison ministry.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Jones Tarpley; his parents; two sisters, Ramona Williams and Elsie Rogers; and a younger brother.

Max leaves three sons, Chris Tarpley of Greenbrier, Mike Tarpley of Conway and Scott Tarpley of Ft. Worth, Texas; two step-children, Dennis Hay and his wife Molly of Jonesboro and Pam Goff and her husband Randy of Cabot; five grandchildren Matthew, Daniel, Stephanie, Eric and Erin Tarpley; five step-grandchildren, Emily Hutchison (Shane), Nathan Hay (Jennifer), Lindsay Hay, Mandy Houck and Abby Enfinger (Jeremy); and seven step-great grandchildren, Hayden Houck, Whitten Gray, Ian Hay, Graham Hay, Grayson Hay, Olivia Hutchison and Mollie Hutchison.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Friday, Aug. 30, in the Cobb Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Ron Wilcoxson officiating. Burial will follow in Elmwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1 p.m. until service time at Cobb Funeral Home.
