Frank Wilson Thompson, 80, of Fayetteville, N.C., formerly of Northeast Arkansas, passed from this life Tuesday, Aug. 27, 2019, at his home. Born and raised in Chadbourn, N.C., he was the son of the late George A. and Winnie Covington Thompson. Frank was a 1957 graduate of Chadbourn High School and was retired from the U.S. Navy in 1977 as a Chief Petty Officer First Class. While serving in the Navy he worked a variety of jobs including parachute rigger and career counselor. After his retirement he worked as a supervisor for both Cross Screen Doors in North Carolina and Bush Canning Company formerly of Blytheville.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 41 years, Frances Crews Thompson earlier this year; one brother, Alan Thompson; two sisters, Sylvia Thompson and Judith McMillian; and one grandson, Frank Thompson, III.

Survivors include four sons, Frank W. Thompson, Jr. of Placerville, Calif., Steve Sanders of St. Pauls, N.C., Phil Sanders of Gray’s Creek, N.C., and Greg Thompson of the home; one daughter, Terreisa Lane and husband Gary of Fairbanks, Alaska. He also leaves seven grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and one on the way.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Friday, Aug. 30, at the Howard Funeral Service Chapel in Leachville with Rev. Larry Davis officiating. Burial with military honors will follow in the Leachville Cemetery. The family will receive visitors Friday from 1 p.m. until service time at the funeral home.
