Billy Owens Stotts

Billy Owens Stotts, 67, of Caraway, passed away on Saturday, Aug. 24, 2019, at UAMS in Little Rock. He was born on Dec. 25, 1951, in Lake Village.

He was a retired Arkansas State Trooper who spent the majority of his career in the Executive Protection Section protecting Governors Bill Clinton, Jim Guy Tucker and Mike Huckabee. Bill also had an instrumental part in the writing of the Commercial Driver's License test for the State of Arkansas, which led him to drive for Walmart on his day off. Prior to graduating troop school in 1977, Bill was a manager and coach for Orwell Moore's All American Redheads. Bill will be remembered as a kind, selfless, giving man who always liked to be a practical jokester.

He is survived by his wife, Brenda Stotts of the home; daughter Allyson Anderson (Billy) of Lake City; mother, Pat Fleetwood of Caraway; brother, Chuck Stotts (Fran) of Bismarck; sister, Teresa Cook of St. Cloud, Fla.; grandchildren, Griffen Owen and Sydney Lura Anderson of Lake City and Mackenzie Brister of Pangburn; nephew, Dallas Killough (Ruth) of St. Cloud, Fla.; great-nieces and nephew, Finley, Ryan and Dillion Killough of St. Cloud, Fla.; his stepchildren, Jeremy (Tara) Smith of Jonesboro, Travis (Lesley) Anderson of Black Oak, and Amy (Justin) Ladd of Brookland; his step-grandchildren, Riley and Maddie Smith, Gavin and Parker Anderson and Jacob, Andy, and Brynlee Ladd and a host of other family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his father, Charles H. Stotts Sr., and youngest daughter, Victoria Burton, who passed May 20, 2012.

A celebration of his life will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 28, at the Gregg Funeral Home in Monette with Rev. Rick Stevens officiating.
