Mary Smith

Mary Smith, 86, of Blytheville, passed away June 28, 2019, at Heritage Square Nursing Center in Blytheville. Born to Lewis and Ophelia Leslie Welch in Kensett, Ark., she was a cook at Mississippi County Nursing Home. She loved reading, fishing, and canning vegetables from the garden and an avid Atlanta Braves fan. Mary was a member of the Assembly of God church in Prescott and was generous, hardworking and devoted to her family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Willie Smith; her parents; daughter Margaret Smith Ramsey; three brothers, Johnny Welch, Lewis Junior Welch and Bruce Welch; three sisters, Grace Stevenson, Dorothy Trucks and Cecilia Ann Welch.

Mary is survived by her sister-in-law, Faye Welch of Blytheville; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Monday, July 1, at Cobb Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Mike Welch officiating. Burial will follow at Elmwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until service time at Cobb Funeral Home.
