Charlie Weidman

Charlie Weidman, 81, of Blytheville, passed away Wednesday, June 5, 2019. Charlie was born in Blytheville to Robert “Rass” and Mary Henshaw Weidman. He was retired from South Pemiscot County Schools where he was the band director and counselor, and also taught band at Blytheville Junior High and Gosnell Schools. He received his Bachelor of Science and Master of Science degrees from Arkansas State University. He served his country with honor in the United States Army. Charlie was a member of First United Methodist Church where he served as the choir director. He was an avid bridge and poker player, he enjoyed having coffee and conversation with his friends at the Dixie Pig, and loved watching auto racing and soccer. He and his wife Diana were volunteers for Meals on Wheels for many years.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Diana; and brother, Jon Stephen “Steve” Weidman.

Charlie leaves his daughter, Stefanie Barnes and her husband Mike of St. Louis, Mo.; brother, Jim Weidman and his wife Mary Beth of Rogers; granddaughter, Abigayle Winkelmann and her husband Brad of St. Louis, Mo.; dear friends, Justin and Casey Knight of Blytheville; and his cats, Pib and Rosie.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, June 8, at 10:30 a.m. at First United Methodist Church with Rev. Zach Roberts officiating. Burial will follow in Maple Grove Cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday from 5-7 p.m. at Cobb Funeral Home.
