Jerry Don Cleghorn

Jerry Don Cleghorn, 79, of Hark Heights, Texas, formerly of Monette, passed away Tuesday, April 9, 2019, at Baylor Medical Center in Temple, Texas. He was born March 17, 1940, in Lake City to Howard and Edith Peete Cleghorn. Jerry served his country proudly in the United States Army. Jerry worked as a butcher for Amor Meat Packing Company and Randall’s Grocery for 39 years.

He is survived by his wife, Peggy Williams Cleghorn, of 60 years; siblings, JC Cleghorn, Doris Despain, Troy Cleghorn, David Cleghorn, Shelby Cleghorn and Ruby Russell; sons, Michael Keith and wife Margaret Cleghorn and Norman Allen and wife Sharon Cleghorn; grandchildren, Mindy Rene Ditsworth, Michael Ryan Cleghorn, Malachi Alexander Cleghorn, Mikayla Elizabeth Retzlaff, Victoria Garner and Alex Garcia; great-grandchildren, Aiden Cleghorn, Elizabeth Ditsworth, Kendall Cleghorn, Charlotte Ditsworth, Trinity Garner, Jackston Garcia and Madison Qualls.

He was preceded in death by parents, Howard and Edith Peete Cleghorn; brothers, Muriel, Russell and Roy Cleghorn.

A celebration of his life will be 2 p.m., Monday, April 15, at Gregg Funeral Home in Monette with Brother “Chub” Qualls officiating. Interment will follow at Monette Memorial Cemetery with military honors.

The family will receive friends from noon until 2 p.m. Monday, April 15, at the funeral home.

Honored to serve as pallbearers are sons Michael and Norman Cleghorn, grandson Michael R. Cleghorn, and relatives Berry Cleghorn, Norman Williams and Ronnie Gilley and as honorary pallbearers, Malachi Cleghorn and Wesley Retzlaff.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Children’s Home in Paragould or St. Jude Children's Hospital.
