Betty Gerlene Henson

Betty Gerlene Henson, 89, of Blytheville passed away March 21, 2019 in Jonesboro.

A lifelong resident of Blytheville, Betty was born in Yarbro to George and Mary (Yarbro) Whittle. She was a member of the Bethany Baptist Church and active participant and van driver at the Senior City Center where she delivered meals. She was an avid reader, loved word searches and working in her ceramic shop. Betty also loved gardening, where she did most of her work directing orders from her chair under the shade tree.

Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Walter Moody Henson; five brothers, Gene, J.C., Grover, Cecil, and Jack Whittle; seven sisters, Eula Mae Henson, Mary Lou Perry, Joan Kesler, Linda Hill, Wanda Wardlaw, Celia Long and Lela Nunnery.

She is survived by her children, Janet O’Malley (Tommy) of Blytheville, Bruce Baker of Mammoth Springs, Tim Nokes of Yarbro, and Guy Henson (Nancy) of Yarbro; sister, Bobbie Bray of Blytheville; six grandchildren, Dale Baker, Carrie Harmon (Robert), Amy Glintborg (Kirk), Nathan Henson (Kim), Amanda Welch (Brian), Matthew Henson; and twelve great- grandchildren.

Funeral Service will be held Tuesday, March 26, at 1 p.m. in the Cobb Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Gary Hyde officiating. Burial will follow at Elmwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends from noon until service time at Cobb Funeral Home.
