Lyla Jean Wood

Lyla Jean Wood, 87, of Paragould, former Leachville resident and widow of Billy Jerald Wood, Sr., passed from this life Tuesday, March 12, 2019, at the Green House Cottages of Belle Meade in Paragould. Born in Dumas she was the daughter of the late Mark and Annie Morgan Jones and had been a longtime Dumas resident and Leachville resident before making her home in Paragould three years ago. Lyla was a homemaker and a member of the First Baptist Church in Leachville.

In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by two brothers, Oscar Jones and Joe Jones; three sisters, Alice Smith, Dorothy Denton and Catharin Wallace.

Survivors include three sons, Billy Jerald Wood, Jr. (Sue) of Gulf Shores, Ala., Larry Gene Wood (Sandy) of Russellville and Roger Lynn Wood (Terry) of Dumas; her daughter, Beth Chambers (Terry) of Leachville; one sister, Doris Fleet of Ft. Smith. She also leaves 13 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Friday at the Howard Funeral Service Chapel in Leachville with Pastor David Price officiating. The family will receive visitors Friday afternoon from 1 until service time. Graveside service will be 2 p.m. Saturday in the Dark Corner Cemetery in Gould under the direction of Howard Funeral Service.
