Benjamin Gordon, Sr. of Jonesboro was born Nov. 8, 1947 in Blytheville to the late Eddie Long, Sr. and the late Velma Sue Love Gordon. He was a United States Marine Corps veteran, was retired from Maverick Factory, was a retired custodian for the Blytheville School district and was a quarterback for the Harrison High football team. Mr. Gordon passed away on March 7, 2019 at his home in Jonesboro at the age of 71.

He is preceded in death by his parents and one son, Dewon Lewis.

He is survived by four sons, Christopher Clark of Seattle, Wash., Mark Gordon of Little Rock, Dennis (Tonnie) Gordon and Benjamin (Tiara) Gordon, Jr., both of Jonesboro; two daughters, Shantel Gordon and LaSondra Gordon (Clinton) Johnson, both of Jonesboro; four brothers, Eddie Long, Jr. and Mack Bates, both of Indianapolis, Ind., Pastor Edward Long Jr. ( Doris) and Fred Long (Glenda), both of Muncie, Ind.; two sisters, Roxie Williams (Steve) of Kansas City, Mo., and Yvonne Thompson of Muncie, Ind.; 15 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; his ex-wife, Alice Woodruff Gordon; a host of other relatives and many friends.

The visitation will be from 9-10 a.m. Saturday, March 16, at Wilson Funeral Home in Blytheville with the funeral immediately following at 10 a.m. Bishop Terry Brewer will be officiating. Burial will be held at the Arkansas State Veterans Cemetery in Birdeye.
