Barbara Burnett Schumacher

Barbara Burnett Schumacher, 96, passed away in her home Feb. 5, 2019.

Mrs. Schumacher was born in Aurora, Ill., to Rosalie Ott Burnett and Donald C. Burnett. She was a graduate of Lindenwood University in St. Charles, Mo., where she also competed on the equestrian team. On Sept. 14, 1946, she married Everett J. Schumacher and they lived in Aurora where Mrs. Schumacher was a teacher at Holy Angels Elementary School until 1967 when the family moved to Blytheville, Ark. Mrs. Schumacher was a teacher at Burdette Elementary School and then Presbyterian Christian Academy in Blytheville for many years. She is remembered fondly by her former students and parents. She was a member of Chapter CI PEO.

On May 6, 2005, Mrs. Schumacher was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 58 years, Everett J. Schumacher.

She is survived by her children, Sarah Stutz Sisbach (Steve Sisbach) of Oregon, Wis., James B. (Jim) Schumacher of Bangkok, Thailand, and Elizabeth S. (Betsy) Gaines of Little Rock; her grandchildren Greg Stutz (Andrea Heuer), Kristin Stutz (Robert Stapel), Matt Gaines (Holly Gaines), Lauren Gaines Skeen (Mike Skeen), Brittany Schumacher; and eight great-grandchildren.

A private funeral mass will be held at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Blytheville followed by private burial in Maple Grove Cemetery on Friday, Feb. 8. The family will receive visitors at the family home, at 815 Indiana Street in Blytheville from 4 o’clock to 6 o'clock in the evening on Thursday, Feb. 7.
