Jose Cortez Carranza

Jose Cortez Carranza, 36, of Leachville, passed from this life Friday, Jan. 18, 2019, at his home. Born in Matamoros, Mexico, and raised in Leachville, he was the son of the late Jose Cortez and had attended Buffalo Island Central Schools. He was employed by Stracener Brothers Construction Corporation in Blytheville.

Survivors include his wife, Brenda Cortez of Leachville; two sons, Jose Cortez, III and Daniel Cortez, both of Leachville; a daughter, Miriam Garcia of Matamoros, Mexico; two stepdaughters, Kyleen Ruiz and Briana Ruiz, both of Leachville; his mother, Ignacia Carranza of Matamoros, Mexico; his half-brother, Roberto Martinez Carranza of Harlingen, Texas; two half-sisters, Maria Guadalupe Cortez Carranza of Matamoros, Mexico, and Mayra Cortez Carranza of Harlingen, Texas.

Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 23, at the Howard Funeral Service Chapel in Leachville with Pastor David Price officiating. Burial will follow in the Leachville Cemetery. The family will receive visitors Wednesday from 11 a.m. until service time.
