James E. Thompson, 68, of Lakewood, Colo., passed away Saturday, Dec. 29, 2018. Jim was born Dec. 8, 1950, to George and Jean Thompson in Searcy. In 1962, the family moved to Blytheville and Jim graduated from Blytheville High School in 1969. He served in the U.S. Air Force for 11 years, then earned a Bachelor of Science Degree from the University of Colorado-Denver. He worked as an auditor in the oil and gas industry for over 20 years.

Jim lived life on his own terms and loved it. His passions included family, games and sports, spending time in his Texas house, motorcycling, stained glass creations and a variety of television shows. He demonstrated commitment and had a continuous pursuit of perfection in everything he did. He was a lifelong learner and had a head full of interesting, yet sometimes useless, trivia. His silly sense of humor could spread laughter and smiles throughout a room. For someone that seemed to be an introvert, he could command an audience in many different environments.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Jim leaves his wife of 41 years, Suzanne F. Thompson; daughter, Tiffany Fisk and husband Jonathan; sister, Teresa Hinson and husband Dale of Blytheville; grandchildren, Justin Huckleberry and Joshua Fisk; nephews, Kyle and Bryce Hinson; great-niece and nephew, Kyleigh and Tyner Hinson; and numerous cousins, friends and co-workers.

The family is forever grateful for the compassionate care Jim received at National Jewish and St. Joseph Hospitals from the doctors and nurses who treated him in his last few months.

A memorial service was held at 11 a.m. Monday, Jan. 7, at the Horan & McConaty Family Chapel, 3101 South Wadsworth Boulevard, Lakewood, Colo. 80227. Burial followed in Ft. Logan National Cemetery.
