Melissa Cashion West

Melissa Cashion West, 57, of Jonesboro, former Leachville and Camden resident, passed from this life, Sunday, Dec. 30, 2018, at her home. Born in Leachville, she was the daughter of the late Joe F. Cashion, and was a 1980 graduate of Leachville High School. She later received a B.S. degree in education from Southern Arkansas University in Magnolia and taught for many years in the McNeil and Camden school districts. Following retirement, she made her home in Jonesboro. Melissa was a member of the Leachville Church of Christ.

Survivors include her mother, Evelyn Cashion of Jonesboro; a son, Jared Hawkins of Orange, Texas; a daughter and son-in-law, Kelli and Seth Waggonner of Orange, Texas; a brother, Jody Cashion of Jonesboro; a sister and brother-in-law, Danita and Larry Johnson of Walls, Miss.

Memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 3, at the Howard Funeral Service Chapel in Leachville with Mr. Tim Bassing officiating. The family will receive visitors Thursday from 11:30 a.m. until service time at the funeral home.

The family prefers any memorials be made to the Northeast Arkansas Humane Society, 6111 E. Highland Drive, Jonesboro, AR 72401.
