Jewell “Sissy” Sanders

Jewell “Sissy” Sanders, 87, of Horseshoe Bend, Arkansas and formerly of Blytheville, passed away Wednesday, November 21, 2018 at White River Medical Center in Batesville.

Jewell was born in Gosnell to Charles and Mary Hardin Lucius. She worked for her father at Lucius Furniture in Blytheville for years, and later went on to own and run the business with her husband Joe. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Horseshoe Bend. Jewell loved to travel and greatly enjoyed camping and fishing and spending time with her family. She was a dedicated and passionate wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Louis Virgil Vernon; her parents; son, Chris Allen Vernon; grandson, Thomas Charles Warren; two brothers, Sonny and Buddy Lucius; and two sisters, Shirley Lane and Raye Ledbetter.

Jewell leaves her husband, Joe Sanders of the home; seven children, Patricia Lee Myer and her husband Tony of Conway, Jeffrey Louis Vernon and his wife Melissa of Jonesboro, Laurie Lasky and her husband John of University Place, Washington, Lisa Bizzell of University Place, Washington, Lynne Fredericksen of Atlanta, Georgia, Cathy Fitzer and her husband Trace of Puyallup, Washington and Diana Young of Atlanta, Georgia; one sister, Jeanie French of Blytheville; 13 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Monday, November 26th at 11:00 a.m. in the Cobb Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Eddie Clemons officiating. Burial will follow in Elmwood Cemetery.
