Jean Louise Curry Carmon

Jean Louise Curry Carmon, 83, of Gosnell, passed away Thursday, November 15, 2018 at her home.

Jean was born in Harrisonburg, Virginia to Clarence and Ruby Whissen Curry, but was raised by her maternal grandparents, John and Lilly Cave Whissen, after the death of her parents at an early age. She worked in the nursing field for many years as a nursing home administrator before retiring. She lived most of her life in Gosnell and was a member of the Lutheran Church. Jean served as a volunteer for the City of Gosnell for many years. She was always involved in recycling projects, and worked on the cleanup crew on the scheduled city cleanup days in Gosnell. She worked diligently beside her husband Bud to make the City of Gosnell a better place. Jean loved flowers and enjoyed working in her flower beds and growing vegetable gardens.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold “Bud” Carmon; her parents; one son, Harold Dean Carmon, Jr.; and granddaughter, Jessica Hobbs.

Jean leaves two daughters, Carmell Hobbs of Mesa, Arizona and Tawnie Lea Halsell of Gosnell; two brothers-in-law, J.W. Carmon and his wife Marge of Paragould and Jack Carmon of Highland, Arkansas; three cousins, Bobbi Hottinger and her husband Marvin, Susand Whissen and Richard Shaw and his wife Marsha, all of Harrisonburg, Virginia; two grandchildren, Katie Halsell and Anna Lea Halsell of Gosnell; and two great-grandchildren, Dawson Dean Halsell and Charlee Grace Halsell.

Funeral services will be held Monday, November 19th at 2:00 p.m. in the Cobb Funeral Home Chapel with Billy Holifield officiating. Entombment will follow in Dogwood Mausoleum.
