Kenneth A. Gipson

Kenneth A. Gipson, 89 of Benton, passed away Tuesday, November 13, 2018. He was born February 11, 1929 in Russell, Arkansas, to the family of Oscar Henry and Mamie Hampton Gipson.

Ken was a member of Park Place Baptist Church, Bryant, Arkansas. Prior to moving to Benton, he was a longtime resident of Blytheville, and was a charter member of Fairview Baptist Church where he served as a deacon, church music director and Sunday School teacher. He was a Past President and 50-plus year member of the Blytheville Kiwanis Club. He retired from the Kroger Company where he worked for 42 years. He was also owner of Five G Construction. He spent several years helping build Stoneridge Baptist Camp at Smithville, Arkansas. After retiring he drove a VA van, as a volunteer, one-day a week to the Veterans Hospital in Memphis. He also worked part-time at Cobb Funeral Home.

He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 65 years, Louise Coleman Gipson, his parents; sisters, Retha Mayhan, Ethel Fletcher, Lee Ola Tate; brothers, Paul Gipson and Hosea Gipson.

Ken is survived by his sons Kenneth Ray and wife Carol Gipson of Conway and Gary Don and wife Janet Gipson of Bryant; grandchildren Lori (Tommy) McMillan, Lance Gipson, Emily (Tyler) Nelson, Matt (Lenee) Gipson; great-grandchildren, Maddie, Owen and Wyatt Nelson, Grady, Ella and Crew Gipson, Cade, Leah, Will and Erin McMillan; and brother, Leroy (Sadie) Gipson of Jonesboro.

Funeral services will be Thursday, November 15, at 2:00 p.m. at Roller-Farmers Union Funeral Home, 1900 West Washington Ave, Jonesboro, with Bro. Larry Haynes officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Burial will be at the Philadelphia Cemetery, Jonesboro, with Kenneth Gipson, Gary Gipson, Lance Gipson, Matt Gipson, Tyler Nelson and Tommy McMillan serving as pallbearers.
