Melton Emery

Melton Leslie Emery, 75, of Caraway, passed from this life Thursday, Nov. 1, 2018, at St. Bernards Medical Center in Jonesboro. Born in the Milligan Ridge community to the late George Melton and Lillian Reams Emery, he spent his youth in Elkhart, Ind., before returning to the Caraway area in 1959. He was a 1961 graduate of Caraway Central High School and was the owner and operator of Emery RV. A member of the Buffalo Chapel Baptist Church, he was a man of strong Christian faith and had a deep love for his family, friends and the City of Caraway. His shop was the local gathering place for food and fellowship every Thursday, a tradition cherished by family and friends alike. Melton was also an avid collector of local memorabilia.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Barry Emery, an infant brother Michael Emery, and a great-granddaughter, Emery Foley.

Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Faye Pace Emery of the home; three sons, Merret Emery (Michelle) of Caraway, Monte Emery (Kimberly) of Lake City and Mark Emery (Kristin) of Lake City; his grandchildren, Michael and Starla Emery, Mandy and Hunter Young, Grayson Emery, Jake and Rebekah Emery, Sydney and Levi Reed, Tucker Emery, Savannah Emery, M.J. and Kaley Emery, and Morgan and Spencer Foley; great-grandchildren, Mason, Maggie, Mabry, Emerson, Macks, and Miller. He also leaves one brother, Terry Emery of Caraway.

Graveside funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 3, in the Caraway Cemetery with Rev. Bob Hall officiating.

Pallbearers are Merret Emery, Monte Emery, Mark Emery, Michael Emery, Jake Emery and M.J. Emery. Burial is under the direction of Howard Funeral Service of Manila.

The family prefers memorials be made to the Down Syndrome Association-Mid South, 154 Timber Creek Drive #5, Cordova, TN 38018, in memory of Emery Foley.
