Marjorie Jane Cullum Goodman, age 93, of Blytheville, passed from this life on Friday, September 21, 2018 at the Heritage Square Nursing Center in Blytheville. Born to James Ira and Ora Dacus Cullum in Portageville, Missouri, she was a resident here for most of her life, a retired linotype operator at Blytheville Courier News, Steele Enterprise, Osceola Times and a member of the First Baptist Church.

Marjorie was an individual who seized every moment and lived it to the utmost of her ability. She was able to accomplish many things in her lifetime. For over 50 years, Marjorie was employed in her beloved newspaper industry primarily as a Lin-o-type operator. This was a very complex operation requiring skill and accuracy. In addition to this challenging profession, she also added to her list of accomplishments, the title of “Licensed Insurance Agent” by passing the state requirements exam of the Arkansas Insurance Department. While performing these job functions she also found time to be a dedicated wife and mother, always making herself available to her family. Marjorie also loved to travel with her husband, Calvin, to Washington, D.C. and Little Rock, Arkansas on several occasions as a member of the Silver Haired Legislators. While there they would meet with state and federal legislators to represent the interests of Arkansas Senior Citizens. She was also heavily involved with the Blytheville Senior Citizens Center for many years. Though small in stature, Marjorie never let that hinder her from competing to any challenges that would arise. Marjorie loved competitive firearm target shooting winning several trophies for her skill. She was especially fond of firing her 44 magnum pistol. During her latter years, Marjorie competed in Arkansas Senior Olympics on several occasions, including walking and stationary bicycle riding. In the midst of Marjorie’s lifetime of achievements and daily activities she always found time to remember her Lord Jesus Christ. Her faith in Christ was a guiding beacon in every aspect of her life. She loved her church and the fellowship of all her “brothers and sisters in Christ”. She wasn’t one to just talk about Christ, but wanted her life to reflect Him in all she would do.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by the love of her life, William Calvin “W.C.” Goodman, brothers; Joel Ira Cullum, James Vernon Cullum and sisters; Helen Bingham and Wilma Chilton.

Marjorie is survived by her children; David Ira Goodman of Phoenix, Arizona, Kinley Cullum Goodman of Gainsville, Virginia, Grandchildren; Zachary David Goodman of Scottsdale, Arizona, Rachael Jane Goodman of Spokane, Washington, Leah Michelle Goodman of Scottsdale, Arizona, sister; Virginia Miton of Louisville, Kentucky and a host of nieces and nephews.
