Loc Tien Nguyen, 82, of Gosnell, passed from this life on Thursday, September 6, 2018 at The Regional Medical Center in Memphis, TN.

Loc was born in Hai Phong, Vietnam to Tuan Tien and Mai The Nguyen and was a devoted parishioner of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church.

Loc served honorably in the South Vietnam Army where he was a Master Sergeant, paratrooper, and parachute instructor. As an American ally during the Vietnam War, Loc was in Saigon at the conclusion of the war. Riding on a small scooter with his wife and at that time six children, he was able to save his entire family and escape the fall of Saigon. His “Dream come true” was bringing his family to America where he believed that working hard in the land of opportunity meant they could succeed and have a better life. Loc and his family were sponsored by the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church and eventually settled in Blytheville, AR in 1975.

Loc was employed at Milwaukee Electric Tool Company in Blytheville and retired after 21 years as a machinist. His tireless work ethic was second to none even if that meant working double shifts at the factory or finding extra work painting or landscaping in order to provide for his wife and eight children. His only priority in life was providing the best that he could for his family. He loved the outdoors and was especially fond of fishing for crappie and bass. Loc was also an avid, talented vegetable gardener who loved to share the “bounty” he grew with his family, friends and neighbors. Loc possessed a unique ability to “tinker” with all things mechanical and electronic and make them work.

Loc’s greatest attribute was his love for his Savior, his wife of 57 years, his family, friends, and church. The time which Loc spent as a devoted husband, father, and grandfather brought him the most joyous times of his life. Loc was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, and granddaughter, Sabrina Nguyen.

Surviving Loc are his wife, Tan Thi The Nguyen of the home; children, Tai Nguyen (Tuyet) of Cordova, TN, Hanh Nguyen (Van) of Keller, TX, Phuc Nguyen (Sandi) of Collierville, TN, Dung Nguyen of Oak Grove, MO, Lan Nguyen Couey (Ben) of Oxford, MS, Phuong Nguyen Fang (David) of Germantown, TN, Mary Nguyen Keeley (Bobby) of Collierville, TN, and David Nguyen (Hyuna) of Little Rock, AR, and nineteen grandchildren, Nicholas, Angelina, Brittney, Alex H., Tyler, Jacob, Christina, Andrew, Alex, Lily, Anna-Tan, Lauren, Daniel, Elise, Christopher, Claire, Cora, Brandon, and Eric.

A Mass of Christian Burial was held Monday, September 10th at 12:00 p.m. in the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church with Father Thomas J. Hart officiating. A Rosary Service began at 10:30 am with the family receiving friends from 11:00 a.m. until service time also at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. Burial followed Mass Services in Dogwood Cemetery. At the family’s request, Memorial gifts may be given toward Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 1301 W. Main St. / P.O. Box 747, Blytheville AR 72316. All services were under the direction of Cobb Funeral Home. Condolences may be expressed to the family online at www.cobbfuneralhome.com.
