Eugene Turnbow

Eugene Taylor Turnbow, 94, of Blytheville, former longtime Leachville resident, passed peacefully from this life Friday, June 29, 2018, at the Hospice Home Care in Little Rock. Born in Smithville, he was the son of the late Taylor and Blanche Stewart Turnbow and was raised in Leachville. He was a 1942 graduate of Leachville High School and a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II. The former owner and operator of Turnbow's Grocery in Leachville, he had been a Blytheville resident since 1974. Gene was a member of the Dud Cason American Legion Post #33 in Blytheville.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Mildred "Bill" Turnbow, one brother, J.T. Turnbow, and one sister, Juanita Riggs.

Left to cherish his memory are one sister-in-law, Wanda Couch of Mansfield, Texas; many nieces and nephews; three wonderful neighbors, Glen and Nancy Bardwell, and Mike Richardson; and his beloved canine companion, Molly.

Graveside funeral service will be 1 p.m. Tuesday, July 3, at the Leachville Cemetery with Gerald Ray officiating. Burial will be under the direction of Howard Funeral Service of Leachville.
