John Ed Goodman, 54, of Blytheville, passed away Saturday, June 23, 2018 at Methodist University Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee.

John Ed was a 1982 graduate of Blytheville High School. While at BHS he played for the Chickasaw football team where he earned All-Conference and All-State Honors. He was also invited to play for the East team during the1982 All-Star game and selected to the Arkansas Super Team. After graduating from BHS he continued his education at the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville, where he played for the Razorback football team under coaches Lou Holtz and Ken Hatfield. After graduating from the University of Arkansas with a BSE in Education he coached football in Memphis, Tennessee, and Berryville, Arkansas.

In 2004 John Ed decided he wanted to enter the administration side of education so he enrolled in Lindenwood University. He graduated with his MSE in Educational Leadership. He went on to work as an administrator in Stuttgart, Arkansas and then Bearden, Arkansas.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Wallace and Evelyn Cupples and T.L. and Virgie Goodman.

John Ed leaves his wife, Maria Anderson Goodman of the home; three sons, Cody Goodman of Fayetteville, Jackson Goodman of Pryor, Oklahoma, and Joe Goodman of Fayetteville; his parents, Jack and Nancy Goodman of Blytheville; brother, Mark Goodman and his wife Karina of Dyersburg, Tennessee and their children, Gabriella and Jackob, and niece, Annalyssa Tanner (Carter) of Bryant, Arkansas; father and mother-in-law, David and Betty Anderson of Berryville, Arkansas; sister-in-law, Tina Stockton and her daughter Betty; brother in law, John Anderson and his wife Crystal and their children Alesha and Brayden; brother-in-law, Kevin Anderson and his wife Michele and their daughter Alyssa Villines (Jason).

Funeral services will be held Friday, June 29th at 3:00 p.m. in the Cobb Funeral Home Chapel with Mr. Trey Shearin officiating. Burial will be private. The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 5-7 p.m. at Cobb Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to the John Ed Goodman Memorial Scholarship.
