Billy Dean Jackson, 84, of Blytheville, passed away Thursday, May 24, 2018 at St. Bernards Medical Center in Jonesboro.

Billy was born in Portia, Arkansas to Hurshel and Francis Moore Jackson. He was a retired farmer and manager of Drainage District #17. He served his country with honor in the United States Army during the Korean War and was a member of the American Legion. Billy was a member of First United Methodist Church where he was the head usher for many years. He was a dedicated member of Blytheville Lion’s Club where he was a past president, the recipient of the Melvin James Fellow Award for dedicated Humanitarian Services and Lion of the Year. Billy served on the Farm Bureau Board for over 30 years and also served as president of the board. He was an avid hunter and fisherman, and loved taking his grandsons to hunt and fish alongside him. He was also a dedicated Arkansas Razorback fan. When his health allowed, he enjoyed raising a garden and would often grow more vegetables than he knew what to do with.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 63 years, Frances Slayton Jackson; his parents; a son, Gregory Jackson; and two brothers, Bob and Jack Jackson.

Billy leaves his son, Steven D. Jackson (Mollye) of Osceola; brother, Jim Jackson of Little Rock; four grandchildren, Tyler Jackson (Brittany), Neal Jackson, Wayne Couch (Selena), and Matthew Couch; and five great-grandchildren, Brayden Jackson, Mollie Couch, Brodie Couch, Branton Couch, and Martin Couch.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, May 29th at 2:00 p.m. at First United Methodist Church with Rev. Zach Roberts officiating. Burial will follow in Elmwood Cemetery.
