Bertha Mae Reid

Bertha Mae Reid was born Aug. 8, 1933, in Caraway to Borden McConnell and Esther Davis. She was the sister of Eual Wayne Vanhorn, Melba Jean Downs, Esther Lee Hodges, Anita Huett, Floyd McConnell and Ludenna Pettypool. She was wife to Monroe Reid for 52 years.

She was the mother of Deliah, Carol Lowery, Lila Denise Treece, Sheila Ann Richmond and Sonya Dee May (Steve) and grandmother of Sam Isham (Jackie), Trey Austin (Alisha), Brent Isham, Patience Lyssy (Duane), Mandi Stutts (Danny), Melissa Schroeder (Dustin), Chasity Guthrie (Eric), Fred Treece (Tiffany), Amanda Cox (James), Lauren Reid, Charlie Miller (Alisha), Tori Reid and Stevie May and her God grandson, Joshua Rowton. She had 20 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews, friends and family members.

She was a singer/songwriter/musician. She performed under the name Misty McConnell. She loved to crochet, play cards and board games with her kids and grandkids.

Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, April 12, at Soul’s Harbor Church, Manila, with Pastor Jeff Knowlton officiating. Interment will follow at Caraway Cemetery under the direction of Faith Funeral Service.

The family will receive visitors from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, April 11, at the church.

Pallbearers are Sam Isham, Brent Isham, Fred Treece, Trey Austin, Charlie Miller, Stevie May, Joshua Rowton.
