Reba Valjean McDonald

Reba Valjean McDonald was born January 25, 1954 at Poplar Bluff. She was the daughter and sixth child of Ruben and Zomer Ellison McDonald. Reba was their only daughter and their last child. She departed her earthly life for her Heavenly home Thursday, March 29, 2018 at the Manor Nursing Facility in Poplar Bluff.

Reba was a faithful member of Pleasant Hill Missionary Baptist Church where she sang in the choir and was a devoted member of the Women’s Missionary Society in addition to working with the youth and the hospitality committee. She worked for years as a volunteer at the Southeast Missouri Youth Camp. She was a graduate of Lincoln University in Jefferson City and a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc.

She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers, Lavester McDonald Sr., Bobby Joe McDonald, Vernell McDonald, and Wallace McDonald.

Reba leaves to forever cherish her memory one daughter, Zocara McDonald of Poplar Bluff, three grandsons of which she was truly devoted, Zechariah McDonald, Labryan McDonald, and Brandon McDonald all of the home, one brother Colvin (Jane) McDonald of Poplar Bluff, three sisters in law, Lucretia McDonald of Blytheville, Joyce McDonald of Poplar Bluff, and Diane McDonald of Hanford, Cal., and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, April 4, 2018 at Pleasant Hill Missionary Baptist Church, 913 Garfield Street, Poplar Bluff. Reverend Tommy Robinson is the pastor. Minister Anthony Hughes will deliver the eulogy and burial will follow at the Poplar Bluff City Cemetery.

Visitation will be held one hour prior to the funeral services.
