S.D. Bray

S.D. Bray, 92, of Blytheville, passed away Thursday, March 29, 2018.

S.D. was born in Holland, Missouri to Roy and Alice McDowell Bray. He met his wife of 68 years, Bobbie Whittle, on a blind date. He was a retired foreman and safety director for Ark-Mo Power Company and Entergy, and was a member of the First Baptist Church. He served his country with honor in the United States Army during World War II and was a Purple Heart recipient. S.D. was a lifetime member of the American Legion and served as the commander of Post 24 from 1961-1962. He also served as the chairman of the American Legion Dud Cason baseball team for many years. In his younger years, S.D. was an excellent jitterbug dancer and won many contests. S.D. was very compassionate and loved helping other people. He never met a stranger. S.D. could best be described as kind, humble, and hard working. He loved his family.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Margie Maclin and Joyce Green; and one brother, Roy Bray.

S.D. leaves his wife, Bobbie Whittle Bray; three children, Vickie Bray, Leslie Collard, and Randy Bray, all of Blytheville; and one grand dog, Ziggee.

Funeral services will be held Monday, April 2nd at 11:00 a.m. in the Cobb Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Ron Wilcoxson and Mr. Bill Sullivan officiating. Burial will follow in Elmwood Cemetery.
