Billy Ray Clayton, 71, of Leachville, passed away Monday, March 26, 2018, at his home. Born in Heber Springs, he was the son of the late Robie and Gertie Goff Clayton and had lived most of his life in Leachville. He was a retired farmer and had also worked for many years at the Kiech-Shauver Gin Company in Monette. Billy was a devoted family man and was of the Pentecostal faith. He loved music of all kinds and would spend hours playing his guitar. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Leon Clayton and Raymond Clayton; two sisters, Wincle Clayton and Ivanell Akes; and his son, Steven Ray Clayton.

Survivors include his wife of 45 years, Patty Benham Clayton of the home; one son, Robert Clayton (Jennifer) of Leachville; two daughters, Peggy Davis (Jimmy) of Manila and Carey Madison and Adam Goforth of Leachville; five brothers, Dean Clayton of Monette, Delbert Clayton (Kathy) of Monette, Myril Clayton (Denise) of Monette, Kenneth Clayton of Leachville, Leo Clayton of Leachville; one sister; Imagean Bates (Jerry) of Leachville; and 10 grandchildren and several nieces and nephews, including Ann Penix, Vickie Roper and Greg Penix, whom he considered as his own children.

Funeral service will be at 10 a. m. Thursday, March 29, at the Howard Funeral Service Chapel in Leachville with Rev. Donnie Edge officiating. Burial will follow in Leachville Cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday from 9 a.m. until service time at the funeral home.

Pallbearers are Roger Wilbanks, Charles Elrod, Jerry Elrod, Tim Spencer, Gene Nettles and Ervin Sexton.
