Mrs. Jimmie Davis, 88 of Idabel, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family March 20, 2018 at Hill Nursing Home. She was born December 22, 1929 at Blytheville, Arkansas the daughter of Jim and Lillian Millhorn.

Jimmie and Roland Davis grew up across the street from one another, in Blytheville, and were married February 18, 1945 while he was home briefly from the United States Navy during WWII. The Davis’s raised their family in Blytheville, and in 1968 moved to Idabel, where they began a large farming and grain elevator operation for twenty years. Jimmie took care of the finances for the family farming operations.

She was first and foremost a wife, mother, and grandmother. She was very close to her family and loved them dearly. She taught her daughters-in-law to cook and was truly a role model for them.

Jimmie was an active member of the First Baptist Church in Idabel. She was involved in numerous church activities including President of the Women’s Missionary Union and Sunday School Teacher. She taught preschool and young adults, sang in the choir, and cooked for the youth at Fall’s Creek Church Camp for over twenty years and touched many lives through the years.

She leaves to cherish her memory, her husband of seventy-three years, Roland Davis of the home; son and daughter-in-law, Rev. James and Susan Davis of Clayton, Oklahoma; daughters and sons-in-law, Beverly and Gerald Don Branch of McRea, Arkansas and Sharon and Douglas Andrew of Broken Bow; daughter-in-law, Cathy Davis of Rogers, Arkansas; ten grandchildren, Jason Davis of Salem, Virginia, Cyndie Milligan of Wilburton, Scott Davis of Krebs, Steven Smith of Kansas City, Missouri, Stewart Smith of Lonoke, Arkansas, Allen Andrew of Broken Bow, Rod Andrew of California, Donna Sue Santini of Batesville, Arkansas, Michael Branch of Carlisle, Arkansas, Jay Davis of Rogers, Arkansas and Kyle Davis of Norman, Oklahoma; twenty-six great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins; and a host of friends and church family.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her son, Warren Davis; and sisters, Dora Lee Ford and June Smith.

A celebration of life service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday March 24, 2018 at the First Baptist Church in Idabel with Bro. James Davis officiating. Interment will follow in the Denison Cemetery.

The family will receive friends prior to the service Saturday, March 24, 2018 from 12:30 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. in the fellowship hall of the First Baptist Church.
