Virgil Shepherd

Virgil Wyley Shepherd II passed away on March 14th 2018. He leaves behind his beloved wife of 63 years, Janet (Roberts) Shepherd. His firm belief in God and his unwavering devotion to family gave him peace as he began his journey to heaven. He was blessed with two sons, Virgil Wyley Shepherd III married to Mary (Mahanor) Shepherd and Christopher Lynn Shepherd married to Carolyn (Bowers) Shepherd. Virgil was also gifted with five grandchildren, Stephanie, Christopher, Lisa, Sarah, Daniel, and four great grandchildren.

Virgil was preceded in death by his parents Virgil and Thelma (Rhodes) Shepherd, two sisters Joan and Dorothy and his brother Charles. He worked hard as a carpenter most of his life to support his family and church. God and family were always his priorities and he never missed an opportunity to help anyone in need. He received his Bachelor’s Degree in Bible Studies in 1989. Virgil loved his country and all that fought for our freedom.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, March 21st at 11:00 a.m. in the Cobb Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Roger Aikens officiating. Burial will follow in Maple Grove Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until service time at Cobb Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, it was Virgil’s wish to have memorials be made to the Wounded Warrior Project, P.O.
