Charles Leon Statler, 82, of Salem, Arkansas departed this life on Wednesday, March 7, 2018 in Salem, Arkansas. He was born to the late Omar Statler and Johna (Gillette) Statler on October 5, 1935 in Losecane, Arkansas.

Charles was united in marriage to Betty Faye Thomason on October 31, 1989 in Ash Flat, Arkansas. Charles spent his working years with American Greetings for thirty years, loved farming and was of the Baptist faith. He was a loving son, brother, husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather.

He leaves to mourn his passing; wife, Betty Statler of Salem, Arkansas; son, Richard Statler and wife Tina of Blytheville, Arkansas; three step sons, Kenneth Melvin and wife Teresa of Luxora, Arkansas, Dennis Vandergriff and wife Regina of Luxora, Arkansas and Larry Vandergriff of Kennett, Missouri; daughter, Darlean McNair and husband Robbie of Starksville, Mississippi; three step daughters, Wanda Melvin of Bono, Arkansas, Jennifer Martin of Salem, Arkansas and Pamela Parker and husband Aaron of Lincoln, Arkansas; daughter in law, Kim Vernon of Sage, Arkansas; many grandchildren and great grandchildren; special great granddaughter, Jemma “Crawdad” Clem; two sisters, Bonnie Carter of Blytheville, Arkansas and Joyce Statler of Blytheville, Arkansas; two brothers, Elsworth Statler of Cape Girardeau, Missouri and Larry Statler and wife Shelly of Ora, Arkansas; many other relatives and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, son (Jimmy Vernon), stepson (Calvin Vandergriff), two brothers (David and Jerry) and sister (Bobbie Swain).

Funeral services will be 10:00 A.M. Friday, March 9, 2018 at Barker Funeral Home in Salem, Arkansas with Bro. Lynn Beck officiating. Visitation will be 9:00 A.M. until time of service on Friday, March 9, 2018 at Barker Funeral Home. Interment will be in the Stateline Cemetery in Moko, Arkansas. Pallbearers were Larry Vandergriff, Jessica Martin, Aaron Parker, Benjamin Herron, David Melvin and Tyler White. Honorary pallbearers were Benton Larry Vandergriff and Jemma Clem.
