Orene Lomax Perez

Orene Lomax Perez, 97, of Leachville, passed from this life Thursday, Feb. 15, 2018, at Monette Manor Nursing Home. Born in Paulding, Mo., she was the daughter of the late William Andrew and Effie Hendrixson Lomax and was a 1938 graduate of Arbyrd High School. She had been a Leachville resident since 1942 and was a retired bookkeeper for the former Leachville State Bank. Mrs. Perez was a longtime member of the Leachville First United Methodist Church and the Leachville Extension Homemaker Club. She was an avid reader and loved classical music.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Mount Perez; three brothers, Orville Lomax, W.A. Lomax, and Charles Lomax; seven sisters, Myrtle Burke, Millie Dunehew, Sydney Wilson, Oma McWherter, Betty Jewel Smith, and Thelma and Nellie Lomax.

Survivors include her longtime, loving and devoted friend, Evelyn Suzy Holcomb of Leachville, and many nieces and nephews that she thought of as her own children. She also leaves one brother, Jim Lomax of Ft. Worth, Texas.

Funeral service was 3 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 18, at the Howard Funeral Service Chapel in Leachville with Rev. Jason Sutfin officiating. Burial followed in Leachville Cemetery. The family received visitors Sunday afternoon from 1-3 at the funeral home.

Pallbearers were Tim Winberry, Jeremy Winberry, Bryan Allman, Scott Allman, John Fraser, IV, Steve Duffell, Bryan Harris and Dannie Allen. Honorary pallbearers included James Thomas, Ronnie Metcalf, Gene Metcalf, Tasker Rodman, II, and Ted Tharp.
