Larry George Flagg

Larry George Flagg, 78, of Manila died Sunday, Jan. 21, 2018, at St. Bernards Medical Center in Jonesboro. Born in Blytheville, he was the son of the late George and Louise Bumbalough Flagg and had been a lifelong Manila area resident. A 1957 graduate of Manila High School, Larry later served in the U.S. Army Reserve. He farmed for many years in the Milligan Ridge area and later retired as a supervisor from Viskase Company in Osceola. He was a longtime member and deacon at the Blackwater Baptist Church near Manila. He enjoyed following the St. Louis Cardinals and was an avid Manila Lions basketball fan.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Brenda Bunch Flagg, and a sister, Joyce Flagg.

Survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, George and Becky Flagg of Manila; one daughter and son-in-law, Veronica and Dennis Sammons of Manila; grandchildren, April and Blake McClelland, Nathan and Alex Sammons, and Erin and Ryan Gibson; great-grandchildren, Housten McClelland, Luke Sammons and Elly Gibson; and one brother, Sammy Flagg of Sikeston, Mo.

Funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 24, at the Howard Funeral Service Chapel in Manila with Rev. Ferrel Duffell and Rev. John Henson officiating. Burial will follow in the Manila Cemetery. The family will receive visitors Tuesday evening from 6-8 at the funeral home.

Pallbearers are Blake McClelland, Nathan Sammons, Ryan Gibson, Matt Noble, Rusty Jackson and Hunter Jackson.
