Mr. Charles Edward “Charlie” Fikes, Sr., 66, of Blytheville, passed away Wednesday, December 20, 2017 at his home in Olive Branch, Mississippi surrounded by family.

Charlie was born in Burdette to Onie and Mollie (Moore) Fikes. He was a retired maintenance worker and affiliated with Ruddle Road Church of God. Charlie served his country honorably in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War. He took great pride in being a veteran and felt like it was his purpose in life to contribute to his country and serve in the military.

He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, Homer Hamrick, Bobby Hamrick, Onie Fikes, Jr. and Jerry Fikes, Sr.; and six sisters, Hazel Aycock, Dorothy Clendenin, Bonnie Snurr, Nellie Fountain, Lena Hendrix and Onnie Belle Jones.

Charlie leaves the mother of his children, Carolyn Ward Fikes; two children, Jennifer Foster and her husband Brian of Jackson, Tennessee and Charles Edward Fikes, Jr. of Olive Branch, Mississippi; one brother, Larry Fikes, Sr. and his wife Margaret of Blytheville; one sister, Patsy Taylor of Haleyville, Alabama; sister-in-law, Katherine Fikes of Wichita, Kansas; four grandchildren, Logan, Elijah, Sophia and Isaac Foster; his best friend and dog, Ruthie; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, December 27 at 2:00 p.m. in the Cobb Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Danny Pankey officiating. Burial will follow in Sandy Ridge Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1 p.m. until service time at Cobb Funeral Home. The family requests that any memorials be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
