M.H. Walker

M.H. Walker, 78, of Manila, passed from this life Saturday, Nov. 25, 2017, in Hamilton, Texas. Born in Little Elm, Texas, he was the son of the late Herschel and Belva Byrom Walker and was a 1957 graduate of Denton High School. Following high school he served in the U.S. Army and was stationed in Yuma, Ariz. As a young man, M.H. trained registered quarter horses for Leonard Harper Farms in Texas and was later employed as a trainer for the J.D. Hooter Farms in LeCompte, La. A great horseman, M.H. went on to become the National Reining Horse Association Champion. He moved to Manila in 1971 where he managed the Dunkin Family Farms and later owned and operated Walker Welding and Fabrication. He was a member of the Little Elm Methodist Church.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Imogene Collinsworth and Lillie Pearl Morris, and his son, Stacy Lynn Walker.

He is survived by his daughter, Tamatha Walker of Manila; two sisters, Alma Broyles and Dorothy Conway, both of Aubrey, Texas.

M.H. also leaves his companion of five years, Donna Jean Wilmeth of Manila, and her son and granddaughter, Benny and Kylie Wilmeth.

Graveside funeral service will be held at 2 p. m. Thursday, Nov. 30, in the Manila Cemetery with Rev. Jerry Pentecost officiating. The family will receive visitors Thursday from noon until 1:45 at the Howard Funeral Service Chapel in Manila.

Pallbearers include Billy Knight, Jim Ed Robins, Michael Minton, Gene Adams, Gary Mitchell and Scott Misner.
