Mr. Don Childers

Mr. Don Childers, 84, of Blytheville, passed away Wednesday, October 25, 2017 at St. Bernards Medical Center in Jonesboro.

Don was born in Dell to J.C. and Mamie (Linebarger) Childers. He was the Chaplain at the Mississippi County Sheriff’s Department and a retired builder. Don served his country honorably in the United States Navy during the Korean Conflict. He loved the Lord and was a member of First Baptist Church. Don was always ministering to anyone and everyone that he could. He enjoyed reading John Grisham books. He had a photographic memory and could recall anything he read, especially songs. He sang every day, all day and had a great sense of humor. He enjoyed laughing and telling jokes. Don was a loving, caring person who loved his family.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, James, Hardy, Eli and Joe Childers; and sisters, Laura Travis, Vivian Carter and Emily Ward.

Don leaves his wife, Alice Lorita Childers of the home; children, Mike Childers, Scott Childers and his wife Sherry and Russ Childers, all of Blytheville; sister, Carlene Craft; seven grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, October 28 in the Cobb Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Gary Hyde and Rev. Charles Travis officiating. Burial will be private. The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until service time at Cobb Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to Gideons International, P.O.
