Rickey R. Morehead

Mr. Rickey R. Morehead, 68, of Blytheville passed away Friday, September 8, 2017 at Baptist East in Memphis. Rickey was born in Litchfield, Illinois to Charles L. and Mildred Maxine (Ruyle) Morehead.

He was a retired Master Sergeant of twenty years in the United States Air Force in various management and supervisory positions within a customer service orientated organization Air Weather Service. Supervisor of daily operations of base weather stations both in and out of the United States. After retirement from USAF he worked for Eaker AFB Civil Engineering lawn maintenance and BGRAA. He received Air Force Commendation Medal, Good Conduct Medal with one silver oakleaf cluster, Overseas Short Tour Ribbon with one oakleaf cluster, Longevity Service Award Ribbon with four oakleaf clusters, and Training Ribbon. He also received a National Defense Service Medal and NCO Professional Military Education Graduate Ribbon. He was an active member of the American Legion Post 24 of Blytheville for thirty years and a member of Moose Lodge 1216 of Carlinville, Illinois since 1981.

Survivors include; his wife of forty-two years: Janet Allene (Haynes) Morehead of Blytheville; children: Jessica Morehead, Glenn Morehead (Brittany) both of Blytheville and Michelle Stillwell (Tim) of Illinois; one sister: Sue Ann Cunningham of Illinois; sister-in-laws: Inez Haynes (Gurley) of Gulfport, Mississippi, Vera Work of Blytheville, and Zada Payne (Jon) of Marion, Arkansas; brother-in-law: Alan Berry of Franklin, Tennessee; grandkids: Hunter, Mikayla, DJ, Sasha, Charlie, Kade River, Lauren, and Avery; nieces and nephews: and a host of other family and friends.

He was preceded in death by; his parents; sister: Lisa; four brother-in-laws; and two sister-in-laws.

Memorial service will be held at American Legion Post 24 on Saturday, September 23, 2017 from 1:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family suggest donations to one of the following hospitals: St. Jude Children’s, Lebonheur Children’s, or Arkansas Children’s.
