Mr. Ronald L. Morehead, Jr.

Mr. Ronald L. Morehead, Jr., 59, of Blytheville, went to be with the Lord Monday, August 14, 2017 at his home.

Ron was born in La Junta, Colorado to Ronald L. Morehead, Sr. and Peggy (Wilburn) Morehead. He attended Otero Junior College in La Junta, Colorado where he earned a certificate in welding. He was a welder for Holiday Rambler in his younger days. Ron came to Blytheville in 1978 and attended Mississippi County Community College. He later met and married the love of his life, Jeannie McCaughey, in 1985. While dating, the two discovered they had the same birthday, just a year apart. He worked at Wal-Mart for 17 years. He also worked at McCaughey Jewelers and as a buyer at Snyder Wholesale. Ron was a member of First Presbyterian Church and was a devoted husband, father, brother, and son.

In 2010, Ron lost most of his eyesight, but his spirit never faltered. He attended Lion’s World Services for the Blind in Little Rock where he learned life skills and career training in computer applications. Ron’s valiant struggle with his eyesight and his health was an inspiration to all who knew him. Everyone was amazed with his ability to adapt to his circumstances. He was upbeat and always alert for the perfect time to deliver a funny story or dry one-liner that kept his family (especially his wife) and care givers chuckling.

Ron leaves his wife, Jeannie McCaughey Morehead of the home; two children, Ryan Morehead of Blytheville and Holly Morehead of Flippin, Arkansas; his parents, Ron and Peggy Morehead of Blytheville; two brothers, Richard “Rick” Morehead (Diana) of Berthoud, Colorado and Robert “Rob” Morehead of Marengo, Indiana; one sisters, Pamela “Pam” Bryles of Little Rock, Arkansas; and seven nieces and nephews, Sam Morehead, Jackson Morehead (Holly), Zach Morehead (Shelby), Whitney Morehead, Emily Fitzgerald, Caitlyn Bryan (Cody) and Ben Bryles.

The family requests that memorials be sent to First Presbyterian Church of Blytheville or Lion’s World Services for the Blind in Little Rock.

A celebration of Ron’s life will be held at 3 p.m. on Sunday, August 20 at First Presbyterian Church with Rev. Mike Wey officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. until service time at the First Presbyterian Church. Condolences may be expressed to the family at www.cobbfuneralhome.com.
