Willene Tounsand

Willene Tounsand, 84, of Leachville, passed from this life Monday, May 15, 2017, at Monette Manor Nursing Center in Monette. Born in Leachville, she was the daughter of the late Lee and Gertie McDole Tounsand and had been a lifelong area resident. She was a housekeeper for several area friends and she enjoyed attending Gospel singings at the Melody Theater in Leachville and helping in the Youth Sunday School Class and in the Nursery at the First United Methodist Church in Leachville where she had been a member since 1991.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by two brothers, Raymond Tounsand and Marvin "Jack" Tounsand and a sister, Pauline Tounsand.

She is survived by two sisters, Mildred Wright and Margie Howard;

several nieces and nephews; as well as three very dear friends, Brenda Matheny, Nadine Ballard and her roommate Ethel Curtis.

Special recognition would like to be given to the entire staff at Monette Manor Nursing Center for the care and kindness given to Willene.

Funeral Services will be 2 p.m. Thursday, May 18, 2017, at the Howard Funeral Service Chapel in Leachville with the Reverend Doug Criss officiating. Burial will follow in the Leachville Cemetery.

Active pallbearers will be Brent Farmer, Edward Young, Tommy Eldried, Roland Wells, Brian Davis and Paul Kennett.

Honorary pallbearers will be Gerald Donner, Bob Farmer, John Edwards, Ronnie Metcalf, Leon Swihart, Ken Morris, Kenny Jackson, Randy Jackson and James Keith.

The family will receive visitors Thursday from noon until service time.
