L.G. Turney

L.G. Charlie Turney, 81, of Manila, passed away March 19, 2017. Born Dec. 3, 1935 in Dover, to the late Lonnie Blain and Cleo Turney, he was an Army veteran, retired farmer, member of Fairview Missionary Baptist Church in Blytheville and a deacon at Little River Missionary Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife of 31 years, Sharon Turney; sons, Dennis Blain Turney of Blytheville and Elgie Preston Turney of Manila; grandchildren, Hayden Tyler Turney, Ian Michael Turney, Camden Noah Turney and Paisley Noah Turney; sisters, Mildred Aycock of Athen, Shirley Waldrop of Jasper, Ala., and Elaine Middleton of Batesville; brothers, Lonnie Turney of Batesville and Larry Turney of Lincoln; and 41 nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his brothers, Donald Turney and Rufus Turney.

Visitation will be held from 12:30-2 p.m. Friday, March 24, at Fairview Missionary Baptist Church in Blytheville with the funeral following at 2 p.m. Interment will be in Mississippi County Memorial Gardens with military funeral honors.
