Robert Lee "Dink" White

Mr. Robert Lee "Dink" White was born Feb. 1, 1940, in Burdette to Robert Malcom White and Bertha Belle Stalcup White. He died January 24, 2017 at home in Seguin, Texas.

He graduated from Blytheville High School and earned a Business Management degree from Arkansas State University. He was the General Manager of the Blytheville Water Works for more than 30 years. While there he served as president of the Arkansas Water Works and Environment Association and president of the Arkansas Water Manager's Association. He was selected "Manager of the Year" and was also placed in the Kellogg Award Hall of Fame, the highest honor in the Arkansas water industry. He also served on the water licensing board for the State of Arkansas.

Dink was an active member of First United Methodist church in Blytheville and served as the Sunday school secretary and as an usher for many years. Most recently he was a member of the United Methodist Churches in Jonesboro and Seguin, Texas. He was a member of the Blytheville Jaycees, Lion's Club, Masonic Lodge and Rotary Club. Later he was a member of the Jonesboro Exchange Club.

He was a devoted fan of the Gosnell Pirates athletic program where he volunteered as announcer for high school football games and scorekeeper for high school basketball games.

Dink's favorite pastimes included reading, playing bridge, working with stained glass, traveling and spending time with his family.

Family members include his wife of 49-years, Judith Bond White;

Three children, Robert Micheal White of Wichita, Kansas, Amy Juliet White (David) of Maumelle, Arkansas and Robert Lee "Tyler" White, Jr. (Shanti) of Austin, Texas;

Nine grandchildren, Joshua White, Jeremy White, Gabrielle White, Christopher White, Caroline Ezell, Sam Ezell, Jack Ezell, Kaya Matulewski-Carter and Eve Matulewski-Carter.

An informal Celebration of Life Gathering will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, February 4 in the Atrium of First United Methodist Church in Jonesboro. All friends welcome.

Lasting memorials may be made to any Backpack Programs of First United Methodist Church of Seguin, Texas, Jonesboro, Arkansas or Jonesboro Public Schools; Leukemia Texas; American Cancer Society or any charity of your choice.
