Angela Joann Bennett, 82, longtime Manila resident, and widow of R.J. Bennett, died Wednesday, Dec. 21, 2016, at St. Bernards Medical Center in Jonesboro. Born in Monette, she was the daughter of the late W.T. and Anna Needham Ramsey and was a 1952 graduate of Manila High School. She was employed for many years by the Mississippi County Soil and Water Conservation District, and along with her husband had owned and operated Manila Feed and Western Wear. Always active in her community, she was a member of the Manila Business and Professional Women's club, the Manila Depot committee, and the First Baptist Church.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Tim Bennett, three sisters, and three brothers.

Survivors include one son, Tony Bennett (Sonya) of Manila; one daughter, Pam Townsend of Manila; eight grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

Funeral service will be at 3 p.m. Friday, Dec. 23, at the Howard Funeral Service Chapel in Manila with Rev. Matt Pryor and Allen Donner officiating. Burial will follow in Manila Cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday from 1:30 until service time at the funeral home.

Active pallbearers include Keith Bennett, Dustin Bennett, Benni Don Bennett, Scott Townsend, Jr., Jason Baltimore, Brian Murphy and Justin Guilliams. Honorary pallbearers were members of the Manila Business and Professional Women's Club.
