Monette -- Billy Owen Gipson, 86, passed away Saturday, Dec. 3, 2016 at his residence. He was born Nov. 26, 1930, in Hancock to the late Manuel and Lura Adams Gipson. Mr. Gipsom farmed all his life in the Hancock area and proudly served his country in the U.S Army. He was an Arkansas State Representative District 92 for six years and former justice of the peace for Craighead County. He served as the former president on the Buffalo Island Regional Water Board for many years and worked for the Arkansas State Revenue office in Little Rock for over six years.

He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Geraldine Gipson of the home; two sons, Kent Gipson and wife Tammy of Monette and Danny Gipson and wife Melinda of Osceola; a daughter, Sharon Euler of Poplar Bluff, Mo; a sister, Patsy Fleetwood; eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

He was also preceded in death by a brother, George Gipson.

A celebration of his life was held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 6, at Milligan Ridge Missionary Baptist Church (CR 49, Caraway) under the direction of Gregg Funeral Home with Pastor Mike Coven officiating. Interment followed at Caraway Cemetery.

The family received friends from 10-11 a.m. Tuesday at the church.

Honored to serve as pallbearers were David Shephard, Bobby Lee Barker, Ricky Jackson, Floyd Winstead, Kenny Weathers and Ronald Holt. Loy Glean Jackson, Benny Minton, Fred Greathouse, Larry Sanders and Doodle Taylor will serve as honorary pallbearers.
