Betty Sue (Payne) Burroughs

Mrs. Betty Sue (Payne) Burroughs, 87, of Paragould, died Wednesday, November 30, 2016, at Greene Acres Nursing Home in Paragould.

She was born May 4, 1929, in Halliday, Ark., to the late Marion T. and Carmon (Holland) Payne. Mrs. Burroughs retired from Life and Casualty Insurance Company of Paragould. She was a former employee of Security Bank of Paragould and the Paragould ASCS office. She was also a member of First Baptist Church in Paragould.

Betty was a loving sister, mother and grandmother who adored her grandsons and gave constant care and guidance to them. Her life was exemplified in helping others and her positive, Christian influence on those around her. Her Bible was her constant source of encouragement, especially during her months of residence at Greene Acres.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Leonard Bryan Burroughs, Jr.; a brother, James Coleman Payne; and a sister, Carolyn Joan Harris.

Survivors include a son, Mickey Lynn Burroughs of Paragould; three grandsons, Bryan Burroughs, Alex Burroughs, and Zach Burroughs, all of Paragould. She is also survived by one brother, Marion F. Payne (Ava Sue) of Halliday; two sisters, Gwendolyn Merle Hosman of Paragould, and June Wright (Larry) of Blytheville; three nieces; and three nephews.

Her family would like to extend a special thank you to the Greene Acres Nursing Home staff of the 100 hall and all those who helped in her care.

Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Friday, December 2 at Mitchell Funeral Home Chapel in Paragould, with Dave White officiating. Burial will follow in Linwood Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday from 1:00 p.m. until service time.

Serving as pallbearers will be Bryan Burroughs, Alex Burroughs, Zach Burroughs, James Payne, Bobby Joe Willey and Larry Wright.
