Wayne Spencer Rhoads

Mr. Wayne Spencer Rhoads, 88, of Blytheville, died Tuesday, November 8, 2016 at St. Bernard's Hospital in Jonesboro.

Born to Andrew Jackson Rhoads and Annie Lula Spencer Rhoads, he grew up in the Blytheville area. After graduating from high school, Wayne enlisted in the US Army and served in Japan. He began working for the Postal Service in 1950 as a substitute mail carrier and retired in 1983, after a number of years in management. Wayne was proud of his Postal Service career and often shared humorous stories about that time of his life. As a younger man, he enjoyed photography, woodworking and hunting. He was an active member of his Frist Baptist Church. He will be remembered by his kind spirit, generosity and sense of humor.

Wayne is preceded in death by his parents; and his sister, Joyce Deaver.

He is survived by his nieces, Julia Rapinoe of Seattle, WA and Donna Deaver of Coeur d'Alene, Idaho; and numerous cousins.

Funeral services were Thursday, November 10th at 2:00 p.m. in the Cobb Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Don Childers officiating. Burial was private. The family received friends from 1:00 until service time at Cobb Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to the First Baptist Church.
